Festival of Hands 11th /12th July 2009 |
|
Churchdown is a community blessed with people, churches and services that
care about each other. Churches Together comprise of Our Lady of Perpetual
Succour, the Methodist Church, St John the Evangelist, St Andrew and St
Bartholomew.
With the support and encouragement of Church Leaders and many other people a group of us have got together and are in the process of arranging a week-end with a difference. We are looking at all that goes on in Churchdown and celebrating what we have to offer. The title is a ‘Festival of Hands’, we want to show the Love of God through our hands to the community and it hoped this will include. · Projects for our Youth · Sporting Events · Displays and Activities in our churches · Involvement of a wide cross-section of our Community The hope is that you will want to get involved and are asking; What can I do? How can I be involved? Teams are being set up in each church to decide how we interpret ‘Sharing, Caring, Helping Hands’ and in the next few weeks more information will be available to show where your help and skills will be needed. In our Community, people love visiting Gardens. If you have a garden you would like to share with others why not invite people to visit by opening your garden as part of the weekend. Scarecrows are fun, plan a scarecrow in your garden or business and become part of a trail that can be enjoyed by all. Let your church representative know if you want to be included in either of these projects. Our aim is to have a “Whole Village” Social Event concluding with a fantastic “Giant Songs of Praise.” We also aim to raise a great sum of money, which will be used to help those who need Hand Surgery. This is only the start of our plan for the week-end. Information will appear regularly within all church communications. We do need you; your representatives will be delighted to hear from you. Your representatives for Churches Together ‘Festival of Hands’ are: Our Lady of Perpetual Succour: Helen Marcus and Veronica Lowe |
