What is better than to arrange to meet up with family or friends at a good coffee shop, to sit and enjoy a drink and something to eat in relaxing, welcoming surroundings. Well, STACS aims to provide just that. Set up three years ago, the Coffee Shop opens its doors every Thursday morning from 10 am until 12.30 pm. Popular with young and old alike, we aim to reach or better the standard of high street coffee shops by providing good quality hot and cold drinks and a range of scones, cakes and cookies which are all baked in the Centre kitchen. Warm cheese scones are especially popular, as well as old fashioned lemon and caraway rock cakes, beautiful light sponges and large chocolate shorties. Also increasingly asked for are items from our range of gluten free cakes and cookies - there is always a choice.

Using fair trade goods is important to us; most of our teas and all of our coffee, as well as many of the ingredients for our cakes come from the Centre Traidcraft shop. The shop is open during Coffee Shop hours and sells a range of foods, small good quality gifts and ladies clothes. Staffed entirely by volunteers, people come with friends or on their own.

Children are always welcome and may either stay with their carer, or play in a special area where there are playmates and toys. Community information is available and various agencies have “surgeries” from time to time during coffee shop hours. STACS was set up to meet the need for a meeting place in the village rather than as a money raiser. We keep our prices very reasonable but, nonetheless, we have made a good surplus each year, all of which has been given away to local projects, including the village minibus for the elderly.

We hope and pray that all who come to the coffee shop, whether once or many times will find a warm welcome, and a sense of the peace and love of God.
